This is a tribute to Melissa, she is the most beautiful, intelligent, caring, brave and selfless person we know. We are all so proud to call her our Daughter, Fiancée, Sister, Granddaughter, Niece and friend. She is deeply loved and missed by all of us.
Melissa was a very healthy and active young lady who loved life and would experience all that life had to offer. Melissa started to feel unwell in November 2017 with lower abdominal pain and bloating, she had not had any symptoms prior to this. Following several hospital admissions, scans, appendix removal and investigatory surgery over a 4 month period she was subsequently diagnosed with bowel cancer on the 13th March 2018 and informed that the cancer had spread outside of the bowel.
Melissa sadly passed away on Saturday 5th March 2022 at the age of 29, 4 year after being diagnosed.
Bowel cancer has the 2nd highest fatality rate of all known cancers, and every year, 2500 younger people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK, Bowel cancer UK are working to spread awareness of bowel cancer in young people.
No words can ever do Melissa justice, Melissa was truly an inspirational lady, she always wanted to be there to help others, If we can make a difference to others going through the same and keep her memory alive it would mean a great deal to Melissa and ourselves.
You are never too young to get cancer.
We hope that her many friends and family will visit this page and share their happy memories through photos, video's, stories and music, also a place where we can visit and remember such an amazing person. Any money raised through this page goes directly to Bowel Cancer UK.
